My closest friends know that I live for social media updates on the Kardashian/Jenner clan. They can always expect a shared Instagram post to arrive in their DMs when Stormi is being precious, Kylie and Travis are pictured together or there is news on Kim and Kanye. I admit, I have succumbed to the work of the matriarch, Kris Jenner. It is just astounding. Their rise to fame as an entire family, which does not happen often, genuinely intrigues me.
Most people know that Robert Kardashian, father to Kourtney, Kim and Khloé, served as a lawyer and confidant to OJ Simpson during his murder trial. The family already lived in the spotlight because of Kris Jenner's close friendship with OJ's deceased ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. The family was divided and the girls were right in the middle of it.

As she grew up, Kim became infatuated with the life of celebrities and soon found herself as an assistant and friend to Paris Hilton. She claims to have learned everything about the world of fame and paparazzi from Paris. This put her in the limelight just before the potentially not-so-accidental release of a tape of her and Ray J. Kim achieved stardom.
The family soon launched their TV show on E!, "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." The first episode aired in 2007 and here we are in 2021 with the final season set to air tomorrow night at 8 p.m. ET. After years of spin-offs like "Kourtney and Kim Take New York," "Life of Kylie" and "Khloé and Lamar," the show will finally come to an end...on E! Earlier this year it was announced that the family signed a new deal with Hulu, but who knows what is to come...besides Kris Jenner of course.
Let's talk about many of the ways that the famed family has kept my attention and more importantly, the attention of shoppers who open their wallets to anything released by the sisters.
First off, the real question is, "Do they really look like that?" Is Kim's butt naturally that big? Is Kendall really that skinny? Are Kylie's lips actually back to their natural size? Why does Khloé look like a completely different person? Here are some pictures if you aren't sure what I am talking about.
With all this being said, young, impressionable people all around the world still want to look like them, dress like them and live like them. So, when Kylie launched Kylie Cosmetics and KylieSkin, and Kim launched KKW Beauty and SKIMS, the world went crazy. Their lines repeatedly sell out within minutes of every release. Now, Khloé has created a clothing line called Good American, while Kourtney has started a lifestyle website called Poosh.
I do have to say that I did fall to the social media advertising on Kylie's Instagram. I purchased a KylieSkin product. My review: good, not great.
The lines started by the sisters do not even include the countless products they have endorsed on Instagram just so they can rake in close to $1 million per post. Because of their lifestyle and notoriety, fast fashion businesses are even trying to copy them.
Next, let's talk about probably the biggest reason I have been so intrigued with the family. The Kardashian/Jenner clan is in with people in the music business, the NBA and the movie industry. As a music lover and NBA fan, I am so jealous of these connections. Kanye West and Travis Scott have children in the family now. NBA player Tristan Thompson does as well. It is no secret that Kendall Jenner has dated her fair share of NBA stars as well. This includes Blake Griffin, Ben Simmons and Devin Booker.
Yes, I think it would be so cool to have insider access to some of the best basketball players and musicians in the world, but I am sure it is exhausting. Just by being associated with the Kardashian/Jenners, these stars have become even more famous.
Finally, we have to talk about the next generation. The family has grown to become the Kardashian/Jenner/West/Disick/Webster/Thompson clan. Kourtney has three children with Scott Disick. Kim has four kids with Kanye West. Khloé has a daughter with Tristan Thompson and Kylie has a daughter with Travis Scott (Jacques Webster).

Of all the Kardashian content that I send to my friends, Kylie and Travis' daughter Stormi is at the top of the list. She is the most adorable child on this planet and man does she have a nice life ahead of her. Can you imagine your mom being a billionaire and one of the most famous people on Instagram? Then, your dad is one of the most well-branded and successful rappers ever?

Maybe you will tune into "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" tomorrow night. Maybe you despise the family because they have no real talent and have potentially augmented their bodies just for the fame. But if anything, you will watch just to see how drastically different our lives are from theirs. I am one year younger than Kylie Jenner, who has a child, runs a billion dollar company and can fly off on a private jet whenever she pleases. I am sitting in bed writing this blog on my five-year-old laptop before heading to my waitressing job at a local restaurant. Just wow.
